Diário dos super-heróis secretos
“Diário dos Super-Heróis Secretos” is a short-movie redirected to the kid public, by Pedro Perazzo and Rodrigo Luna. The film is an adaption of the comic book called “Duo.tone”, by Vitor Cafaggi.
The story talks about Tinho, a boy who lives in the countryside and is used to playing by himself, using always his own creativity to create stories with imaginary super-heroes and their enemies. When he was 7-years-old, the little boy sees himself facing one of his biggest challenges: his family is moving to the big city and he needs to say good-bye to everything he is used to – including his imaginary friends – to live in a different reality, an environment that is completely new and unexpected. Although hesitating, Tinho will realize that that is only the first of many challenges that will pass and that this adventure can take him to a world filled with new experiences and learnings.
The project was part of the public call “Narrativas Audiovisuais para Infância”, by the Ministry of Culture.×
“Quitéria” is a biographic feature film about the life of Maria Quitéria, who was the first woman to integrate the National Army during the Second War of Brazil’s Independence. The film is a fiction work on the life of Quitéria, having drama as the gender, and about 100 minutes in length.
In 1822, Maria Quitéria escapes her father’s farm to enlist herself in the National Army to fight the battles for Brazilian Independence. Taken by the wish to defend her own nation, Quitéria faces the prejudice of being the only woman in an environment dominated by men, politics and violence, becoming of the biggest symbols of bravery and freedom of the History of the country.
The project was contemplated via the public call “Desenvolvimento de Projetos – 200 Anos da Independência” of the Ministry of Culture and the script will be developed by screenwriter and director Lara Carvalho, having the consultancy by Francine Barbosa and Iana Paro.×
CAIS is the first documentary feature film by photographer and director Safira Moreira and it proposes, through a poetical language, a search for photographic memories of her family. The missing register (photographic, memorial) and it coincides in the present time due a broken memory, the consequences of a social and historical erasure, and the starting point to the beginning of this work is the re-composition and the construction of a memory as a gesture of healing.
The feature film was contemplated by the Fundo Avon Mulheres no Audiovisual and it was selected to well-known laboratories and spaces for national and international encounters, such as the Imersão Doc Brasil (SP), Brasil Cine Mundi (MG), DOCSP (SP) and Miradas Doc (Espanha). The project is still in the funding raise and management stages.×
Under the support of the Ministry of Culture for the Production of short-movies, “Distopia” is a fiction short film by director Lilih Curi. In the movie, there is a character called Hiram, a widower since his young life, he suffers of Alzheimer and he needs diary care from his oldest daughter called Laura. But today is Laura’s engagement party with her fiancé who is expecting for a special dinner with their family. Lúcio, Laura’s youngest brother, holds the responsibility to take care of the father for that special night. However, this night becomes an eternity for Lúcio, due the fact that their relation is filled up with terrible memories.
The production was conducted by Giro Planejamento Cultural in partnership with Segredo Filmes.×
Iyas Idanas – Mulheres da Cozinha
The project Iyas Idanas – Mulheres da Cozinha consists of a documentary-series composed by 5 (five) episodes, each having 26 minutes in length, under the direction of Safira Moreira. Supported by the Arte na TV Ano II, an initiative of the Gregório de Mattos Foundation, the project aims to give visibility to black women from all over Brazil that are connected to the art of preserving culture through ethno-gastronomy. Also named ethnic cuisine or culinary, they consist of practices and lead up by a determinate people or ethnic community.
Therefore, the series will approach the African ancestrality and the legacy of these peoples to the formation of an Afro-Brazilian culture in terms of culinary, having this approach never shown in Brazilian television before. The first season of the program is shot in the city of Salvador, with guests Angélica Moreira (Ajeum da Diáspora); Ana Célia (Zanzibar); Alaíde (Alaíde do Feijão); Dona Lili; among other Iyas Idanas.×
Receba! (Take it!)
“Receba!” is the first feature film by the team Pedro Perazzo and Rodrigo Luna. Written by Perazzo based on the book “A Guerra dos Bastardos”, by Ana Paula Maia, the film has the production by Giro Planejamento Cultural and Ideograma Produções Culturais, with sponsor by the Audiovisual Sectorial Funds and the Cultural Fund of Bahia. The shooting occurred in January and February 2019 in Salvador.
“Receba!”’s plot involves a purse filled with content that is valuable and illegal, and also stolen. The chase after the purse – and its small furniture inside of it – involves an ex-boxer player, a corrupted cop with fear of blood, her partner that is trying to quit smoking and the dangerous local gangster, besides there is boy that, in the wrong place and wrong time, ends up in the middle of the chaos.
A Brazilian action film is how the directors define the gender of the movie. “Receba!” has all of the cast composed by artists within the theater scene from bahia, such as Edvana Carvalho, Jackson Costa, Evelin Buechegger, Leandro Villa, Daniel Farias, Narcival Rubens, Tânia Toko, among others.×
Cine & Papo
A movie screening, a dialogue. This is the proposition of the Project “CINE&PAPO – Contemporary Inquietudes”, that had its first edition on November 30th of 2017 at the Saladearte of the Cinema do Museu, in Salvador. In total, there were five encounters, one per month, every time on Thursdays, at 7pm, until April 2018.
Marcelo Sá as the curator, each encounter, the public could check out different movies and debates. After each screening, within the inquietudes arisen from each film, invited specialists debated about themes such as “saudade”, gender questions, love fantasies and sex. Guest were Marcelo Veras; Marcela Antelo; Célia Fiamenghi; Andrea Hortélio Fernandes; Cibele Prado Barbieri; Martin Mezza; Alfredo Jerusalinsky; Cláudio Carvalho; Antônio Saja; and Vitor Palomo.
With the production conducted by Giro Planejamento Cultural, and the project was executed by Circuito Saladearte and it was sponsored by Centro Sul and the Government of the State, via the Fazcultura, Secretaria da Fazenda and Secretaria de Cultura of the State of Bahia.×
Lá em Casa Session×
Giro Planejamento Cultural has promoted the production and financial management of the project’s distribution of the fiction feature film Tropykaos, by filmmaker Daniel Lisboa. The film entered to the commercial circuit of cinemas in the cities of Salvador, Aracaju, Porto Alegre, Balneário Camburiú, Fortaleza and Rio de Janeiro, from April to May 2018.
The feature film takes a look at the complex relationship between the Salvador stereotyped by the tourism industry and the city experienced by its inhabitants. With a bold approach, Tropykaos invests in the dialogue with surrealism to compose the imaginary of its main character, while at the same time does not give up the cinematographic formality, creating a very singular aesthetic, unlike almost everything that is currently seen in Brazilian cinema.
Tropikaos was launched in October 2015 at the São Paulo International Film Festival, and it has been screened at dozens of festivals in the country for a few months and has also received awards.×
A mulher do Fundo do Mar (The woman from the bottom of the sea)
The play was produced by an association between Giro Planejamento Cultural and Aldri Anunciação. The text and direction are by Aldri Anunciação and debuted in November 2016 at the Goethe-Institut / ICBA Theater.
The work deals with gaps in the continuous line of official memory. The show makes use of the empty spaces, which the official history does not record or reach. This fictional and dramatic writing deals with subterranean memories, metaphorized by the evasive underwater actions of the main character: The woman from the bottom of the sea. Through a tension between the official memory and the underground memory, the narrative takes us to the deepest oceans, trying to recover identities.
A woman lives fantastically on the bottom of the sea, confined to the abysmal solitude of the oceans. Through the collection of marginalized memories that fall from the surface of the seas, a process of reinvention of identity begins.×
Para o menino-bolha: Circulação Nordeste ( The bubble boy)
The production reflects about the dramaturgical performances for children in the Northeast of Brazil that ended up in the spectacle and book Para o Menino Bolha to the cities of Salvador (BA), Recife (PE), Maceió (AL) and Santo Amaro (BA) in 2016.
The winning proposal of the Prêmio Mirim Muniz de Teatro 2015 award, held in each city two presentations of the play + release of its printed version in book + drama workshop for children.
Para o Menino Bolha is a play for kids, written and directed by Paula Lice. The production completed its first season in Xisto Bahia theater, joining the third edition of the Xistinho Festival, the tenth edition of the Mostra Sesc de Artes (SESC Arts Exhibition) and the second edition of FESTECA, conquering three nominations for the Braskem Theater Award.
The year 2015 has already been received with a new season at Teatro Sesi and with the best text award at the Braskem Theater Award.
Also through the partnership with Giro Planejamento Cultural, the play has circulated for a second tour at the Fortaleza’s Cultural Center of the Northeast Bank, sponsored by the BNB.×
Through the partnership between Giro Planejamento Cultural and Cavalo do Cão Filmes, the directors Daniel and Diego Lisboa, and the support of Amós Heber, has developed the script for the fiction series called Condomínio, selected by the Public Call PRODAV 05/2015, from the Audiovisual Sectorial Funds, composed by 6 episodes of 52 minutes in length.
The fiction series presents Ângela’s journey, who after had gone through an abusive relationship, decides to move in with her son Gabriel to Moradas do Imbuí condominium in search of a new beginning. Far from downtown and surrounded by the Atlantic Forest, the building seemed to be a quiet and pleasant place to live. However, the place holds more secrets than the dwellers can imagine.×
Pequena Usina de Filmes (Small Movie Factory)
The Small Movie Factory project has achieved to do an introductory course to the cartoon world, focusing on children. This project occurred at the same time as the production process of an animated short film, 5 minutes in length, using the Stop Motion technique.
The workshop was conceived by the filmmaker Gabriela Leite in the first half of 2016 with children between 03 and 06 years of age in France. As a result of this course, the animated short film Les Trois Petits Cochons – (The Three Little Pigs) (https://goo.gl/qqwGJs) was produced.
Through the partnership with Giro Planejamento Cultural, the Pequena Usina de Filmes project took place for the first time in Brazil in July 2017 and was sponsored by the Government of the State of Bahia. The course was free of charge and redirected to 30 young students from the municipal school São Vicente, located in the town of Diogo, a small county of Mata de São João, Bahia.
As a result of the Brazilian’s edition, a short-movie was produced “O Mistério da Palha” (The mystery of the straw), and it was screened on September 29th, in the village of Diogo.×
Mostra Elas (Women art show)
The Mostra Elas art exhibition presents films directed by women and it emerged with the intention to create another space of visibility, valorization, diffusion and discussion about the production of films made by women in Brazil.
The project had its first edition presented at Sala de Arte da UFBA, in Salvador, and it is sponsored by the Government of the State of Bahia, through Secult – BA.
The production is a partnership between Giro Planejamento Cultural together with the filmmaker Luciana Lemos (director of the short film Memória da Pedra, winner of Kikito’s best film at the 44th Gramado Film Festival) and the researcher Emanuella Rodrigues. They are united by interest in promoting a project with a focus exclusively on the productions of Brazilian women film directors, having 30 short and long films selected through various themes.
The project also counts on the presence of directors as well as a discussion panel about issues related to gender in the audiovisual environment. The panels will be composed of filmmakers, researchers, artists and activists who seek to value, disseminate and stimulate the increasingly strong participation of women in the audiovisual sector.×

Mostra New Queer Salvador (New Queer Salvador Showcase)
Giro was responsible for the local production of the New Queer Cinema – Cinema, Sexualidade e Política (New Queer Cinema – Cinema, Sexuality and Politics) showcase, that took place at the Caixa Cultural in Salvador from September 2-12, 2015.
The phrase New Queer Cinema, appeared at the end of the 1980’s to describe films of a new generation of North American and British filmmakers that was beginning to challenge the politically correct manner in which Hollywood and North-American Television dealt with homosexuality. These films were an attempt to stimulate discussion about the media and society’s assimilation and tolerance of genders.
The showcase, developed by the Luzes da Cidade (City Lights) group, assembles a few rare films – in particular short films seminal to the era, that had not been shown publicly in the countries in which they were made. The objective of the project is to reevaluate the relevance and impact of New Queer Cinema over the last 25 years, and what it represents in contemporary society. The showcase included 14 feature, 4 mid-length and 9 short films, two debates and one roundtable discussion with the Canadian filmmaker Bruce LaBruce.×
Enterro de Neide (Neide’s Funeral)
O Enterro de Neide is a feature film written and directed Pedro Perazzo and Rodrigo Luna and produced by Giro Planejamento Cultural.
Giro obtained funding for the development of the script from the Bahian State Cultural Fund. The film tells the story of Gil, a young middle-class idealist from Salvador, who takes the body of Neide, his family’s maid, to be buried in the small village in the interior of Bahia where she was born. While there, Gil discovers that even though he lived with her everyday, he barely knew Neide at all.
The tragedies of Neide’s life are revealed during a long flashback that redefines her as a woman and exposes the wounds of a racist society, both past and present.×
Mémoria da Pedra (Memory of the Stone)
Giro Planejamento Cultural managed the postproduction of the short film Mémoria da Pedra, directed by Luciana Lemos and released in 2015. The 15-minute documentary investigates the impact of filmmaking on the Bahian Interior during the 1950’s and ‘60’s, told from the perspective and memories of the local people who witnessed the arrival of a new language spoken by the film crews.
Giro obtained funding for the project from the Bahian State Cultural Fundand the Santander Bank through a program of government incentives for private funding of the arts.×
Restos is a 15-minute short-film directed by Renato Gaiarsa and produced by Giro Planejamento Cultural in collaboration with Vatapá Productions. Giro obtained funding for the film from the Bahian State Cultural Fund.
The fictional short film, inspired by real events, sheds new light on the subject of urban waste. The film examines the consequences of interrupting public sanitation department services in Salvador, showing the repercussions from the point of view of a street cleaner named Souza, who plays an important role in the disruption.
ALÔ ALÔ MUNDO! FILM FESTIVAL
For the first time in Brazil, “Alô Alô Mundo! Cinemas de Invenção na Geração ‘68”, establishes a dialogue between Brazil and Spain, by presenting clips from cutting-edge, politically militant films made primarily in the 1970’s and 80’s, on the theme of rupture and revolution. The exhibition will include two debate and two workshops.
After productions in Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia, Paola Marugán and Marc Martínez, the curators of the project, partnered with Giro Planejamento Cultural to bring the project to Brazil.
The Film Festival occurred from the 10th till the 22nd of January, 2017, at Rio de Janeiro’s CAIXA Cultural and it included clips from 14 Brazilian films made between 1968 and 1982, and 13 Spanish films made between 1968 and 1981. Alô Alô Mundo! has juxtaposed the ethics and esthetics of these two cutting edge film industries, illuminating a series of connections between Brazil and Spain.×
O Mar que Mora em Mim (The Ocean Inhabited in Me)
By means of the collaboration of Giro Planejamento Cultural and Cavalo do Cão Films, the director Matheus Vianna has developed, in partnership with screen-writer Victor Uchôa, the script for his first fiction feature film that was called “O Mar que Mora em Mim”. The project was selected to receive the funding by Fundo Setorial do Audiovisual, and it relied on the script consultancy of professionals Sérgio Machado and Aleksei Abib.
The film portrays the story of Miguel, an orphan teenager from Cape Vert who has crossed the Atlantic illegally and arrived at the city of Salvador motivated by the dream to become a soccer player. After overcoming his immediate deportation, he finally got his definitive permit to stay thanks to Fátima, a public worker from the Juvenile Court, that felt empathy for the case. With the maternal relations established by her, Miguel dives in tormented sensations, a deep profound travel to his inner self.
CULTURAMA is a documentary series for television revealing what is involved in the creative processes of professionals in different areas of the arts. The product of a collaboration between Giro Planejamento Cultural and Cavalo do Cão Films, the project received the “Arte na TV 2014” (Art on TV 2014) Grant from the Gregório de Mattos Foundation. It was directed by filmmaker Daniel Lisboa.
The series is composed of 05 episodes of 26 minutes in length, using documentary and reality show formats. Each episode is a challenge: two artists must produce a work that will dialogue with the city with limited time and money. For 24 hours, a film crew will follow the artists in their creative process. At the end of the show, the viewer knows the final products.
The Clipeteca is an online platform built to encourage and add value to the production of video clips. Collaborative in nature, the site is an archive of video clips from different time periods and different musical styles, produced by Bahian musicians and groups. It is frequently updated with recently released or previously unlisted clips.
Launched in June 2014, the platform is recognized by professionals in the field as a unique initiative, important both in preserving the history as well as in encouraging and influencing new audiovisual production. During the first phase of the project, with funding from the Gregorio de Matos Foundation, the Clipeteca team produced three video clips. In 2015, two of these clips received seven Caymmi Music Award nominations and won in the categories of Best Screenplay for the video clip Toco Y Me Voy, by the band Toco Y Me Voy; and for Best Photography for As Nuvens, by Nana.
The platform currently focuses on video clips produced in Bahia, but plans to expand to include material from other states. The idea is to create a space where artists, bands, professionals, students and other interested parties can have access to video clips being produced throughout Brazil.×
